With plenty of great food, history, and breath-taking nature, Croatia and Slovenia are among Europe’s most rising tourist destinations. A 15-day tour along the coast with a couple of added must-see locations in the hinterland will certainly make you understand why. Starting from Dubrovnik and going up to Zagreb you will feel the real Dalmatia, taste the local’s Istria, enjoy stunning Goriska Brda and fall in love with the two capitals. It will be an unforgettable experience.

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL into DUBROVNIK

Land into Dubrovnik int’l airport (DBV). We will collect and transfer you to one of our locally flavored 4* partner hotels.
The first evening is free to help you get over the jetlag and take in some of this magnificent limestone city at your own pace.

DAY 2 – DUBROVNIK

The next morning, ,meet your local guide for a 3-hour walking tour of the imposing 12th century city. You will learn a lot about its history and geopolitical significance and see not only what you can see in the pictures, but also hidden gems of baroque architecture.
Also, fans of The Game of Thrones will have a reason to relish – Dubrovnik is the set of “King’s Landing”, and you will easily recognize most of the famous scenes from the show.
After the tour, there will be plenty of time to walk the famed city walls, climb Srdj mountain for the best views of the city, or just relax on Banje beach.
We can also organize: sea-kayaking, boat excursion to Elaphiti islands, jet-ski, philharmonic orchestra concert (depending on date and availability), four-course dinner at the best local restaurants.

DAY 3 – DUBROVNIK – HVAR

Saying goodbye to the enchanting Dubrovnik is never easy, but Croatia and Slovenia have a lot more to offer.
En route to the island of Hvar, we will stop in a picturesque fishing village called Mali Ston. The town is very famous in the region for its centuries long oyster farming tradition. After a little boat ride to see how these delicious clams are farmed, you will also have a change to taste a few fresh ones!
We will then catch the ferry to Hvar and settle in a central hotel close to the best restaurants, walks and historical sights.


DAY 4 –HVAR

Once a key trade port of the Venetian Empire, the town of Hvar has since developed into a city of culture, filled with galleries, museums, and old historical sites. Enjoy it at your own pace or with a professional tour guide, or opt for one of the many activities the island has to offer.
In the afternoon, we will visit the island’s top winery – Dubokovic in Jelsa. We will meet the wine maker, taste five varieties of his renowned wine and enjoy some local snacks.

Upon arrival, you will check into your new hotel, freshen up and then be escorted on a 2-hour guided tour of the Old City. An important port from the ancient times, Split boasts one of the best-preserved Roman palaces in the world, erected by emperor Diocletian in 4th century AD.


DAY 6 – SPLIT

This day is reserved for what was in the past considered liquid gold – olive oil! Dalmatia, an olive oil region since ancient times, is filled with high quality oileries and you will enjoy a guided tasting and taste test comparison at one of the best oileries around Split.
The afternoon will be free to walk around the ancient city, relax or indulge in one of the optional activities.
We can also organize: rafting on Cetina river, Anton’s mill local lunch and petting farm, zip-line over Cetina river, four-course dinner at the best local restaurants.

DAY 7 – SPLIT – ZADAR – PLITVICE

Having checked out of your hotel in Split, we will continue our journey along the Dalmatian coast. First stop – Zadar, the northernmost Dalmatian city filled with Roman ruins, imposing medieval churches and unique modern wonders – the Sea organ, that plays music as the tides shift, and the Sun Salutation, a round solar panel that creates a wonderful atmosphere at night with its bright colours.
After the two-hour guided tour, you will have time to explore the city on your own and have a bite to eat before hitting the road again and driving inland toward Croatia’s most amazing natural site: Plitvice Lakes National Park.
We will check in at the hotel nearby the Lakes and get a good night’s rest.
We can also organize: a pre-ordered three-course lunch at one of Zadar’s top restaurants.


DAY 8 – PLITVICE– OPATIJA

Plitvice Lakes NP, a series of 16 turquoise cascading lakes creating some stunning waterfalls, is generally considered the most beautiful national park in SE Europe. You will get to explore this amazing park on foot, by an electrical boat and by an electrical bus, all of which combine to give you the best access to the lakes and the falls.
Heading back towards the sea in the afternoon, we will stop at a typical inland restaurant for traditional local delicacies, like trout in almond sauce or veal under the peka.
From there, we will head down to Opatija and check into a sea-side hotel.

DAY 9 – ISTRIA out of OPATIJA

Opatija, a charming town that used to serve as a summer residence for the Habsburgs, is filled with baroque villas and meticulously kept parks, retaining most of its traditional charm. It also serves as an excellent starting point to explore the Istrian peninsula, a region typically compared to Tuscany and Provance.
There we will embark on a rare activity: truffle-hunting! Led by a team of trained dogs, we will explore a chestnut forest and later also get to taste various dishes and products based on this precious mushroom.
From there, we will proceed to Rovinj, a peninsula-city built under Venetian rule and resembling its famed cousin in many ways.
Return to Opatija for overnight.

DAY 10 – OPATIJA – BRDA

After a late check-out, which you can use for a walk down Opatija’s beautiful lungo mare coastal promenade, we will continue into Slovenia.
Having crossed the border, we will stop to check out another natural wonder – UNESCO protected Skocjan caves, a large cave system that represents the most significant underground phenomenon in both the Karst region and Slovenia.
After that we will visit the Lipica Stud Farm – the home of Lipizzaner horses. You will learn about the rich history of this royal breed and even get a chance to have a fancy ride, if a fan of equestrian riding.
Having said goodbye to these noble animals, we will continue into Goriska Brd, Slovenia’s top wine making region where we will spend the night in a renovated medieval castle.

DAY 11 – GORISKA BRDA

You can opt between a slow morning, sleeping in and relaxing at the hotel, or choose a more active approach – we suggest a bike tour of this lovely region, so you can count on getting plenty of cardio. Also, May is great for cherry picking, and if you are a fan of scenic views you can consider hiking up to Gonjace and climb the Razgledni stolp, a war memorial site that offer a perfect vantage point for a 360 degree view.
In the afternoon we will take you to three best wineries in Slovenia and you will see, or better taste, why their creative owners are making a name for themselves in North American wine circles


DAY 12 – BRDA – LJUBLJANA

After breakfast we will drive up to Slovenia’s capital – Ljubljana.
Having checked in at one of the centrally located hotels, you will join a local guide for a 2 hour walking tour of the city. This will give you a good idea why Ljubljana is considered one of the “must visit” cities in Europe.
The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy at your own pace – the Slovenian capital is filled with museums, bars, restaurants, churches, and shopping alleys. A boat ride on river Ljubljanica is also a great option.
We can also organize: a five-course gourmet “Tastes of Slovenia” dinner at the castle overlooking the city; a food tour of the city focusing on the most important Slovenian dishes

DAY 9 – ISTRIA out of OPATIJA

DAY 13 – LAKE BLED out of LJUBLJANA

Enjoy a relaxing day exploring the fairy tale setting of lake Bled – crystal clear water, beautiful landscapes, an overpowering castle on a cliff and a monastery on an island in the middle of the lake make for an unforgettable sight. Furthermore, we will also take you to Vintgar gorge, where a breath-taking board walk crosses the turquoise river on its way to the lake.
Overnight in Ljubljana.
We can also organize: rowing at the lake, golf, bike rental, lunch at the restaurant within the castle overlooking the lake.


DAY 14 – LJUBLJANA – ZAGREB

After breakfast, we will be leaving Ljubljana and heading to Zagreb. With almost one million citizens, the Croatian capital is the political and business center of the country, but also one of the richest cities in the region in terms of culture and a fast growing tourist destination. During a walking tour of Ilica and Gornji grad you will see most of the historical buildings.
Later, you may want to check for yourself why foodies are raving about Zagreb as a gourmet destination as well.
We can also organize: museums visits (Museum of Broken Relationships, Museum of illusions, Museum of Torture), Room Escape, funicular ride to old Upper Town, cooking class with a renowned local chef, four-course dinner at the best local restaurants.

DAY 15 – DEPARTURE out of ZAGREB

Enjoy a relaxing day exploring the fairy tale setting of lake Bled – crystal clear water, beautiful landscapes, an overpowering castle on a cliff and a monastery on an island in the middle of the lake make for an unforgettable sight. Furthermore, we will also take you to Vintgar gorge, where a breath-taking board walk crosses the turquoise river on its way to the lake.
