Scared at first, enthused as we reached the island Cres, a sailing addict as we pulled back into the marina.

The Secret Service History Route
This circular route from Krk will take you to see beautiful beaches and medieval island towns, but will additionally allow you to explore the deserted political prisons of ex-Yugoslavia where you will get a glimpse into an entirely different facet of the Adriatic and its secrets. The notorious Goli Otok served as a penitentiary for political opponents during Tito’s Yugoslavia, where the barren conditions and the Bura wind acted to change the inmates’ political outlooks. Furthermore, you will see the stunning medieval limestone towns of Krk and Rab, as well as the village Silba, which still retains much of the traditional ways of life due to its remoteness.
